K-RCP is a Korean recipe site for people who met Korean food on a screen first — a drama kitchen, a late-night street stall, a film that made one bowl of noodles unforgettable — and then wanted to cook it at home.
What this site is
Korean recipes written in English, for kitchens outside Korea. Every recipe here is written around one question: can someone who does not live near a Korean grocery store actually cook this tonight? That question shapes the ingredient list, the substitutes on offer and the equipment each post assumes.
What makes K-RCP different
- Recipes from the shows you watch. When a dish became famous because of a drama or a film, the post says so, with the show and year checked against published sources, then explains what the dish actually is and how to make it in your own kitchen.
- Realistic substitutions. Hard-to-find items — gochugaru, fish sauce, perilla leaves, rice cakes, dried anchovies — come with a realistic alternative where one exists, plus an honest line about how the flavour changes.
- Context, not just steps. What a dish is called in Korean, how to say it, how spicy it really is, and how Koreans actually eat it.
Recipes, and the places they come from
Alongside the recipes, the site publishes a small number of guides to real places in Korea — the alleys, markets and neighbourhood restaurants a dish belongs to.

Who runs K-RCP
K-RCP is run and edited by Sung Hwan Cho (조성환), a Seoul-born industrial designer. He is not a chef. The recipes here are home-cooking versions of dishes Koreans eat every day, written for cooks outside Korea who cannot always find every ingredient.
How these posts are checked. Korean names, history, figures and food-safety notes are compared against published sources, including Korean-language references read in the original. The recipes are compiled from those sources rather than developed in a test kitchen. If something here is wrong, write to 4ddesigner@naver.com.
